The Midday Gap Does Not Have to Become More Screen Time

You have twenty minutes between tasks and the instinct is to keep scrolling. If the schedule allows a break, decide what would help you return with a little more room in your head.

You have twenty minutes between tasks and the instinct is to keep scrolling. If the schedule allows a break, decide what would help you return with a little more room in your head.

Choose the break before it arrives

Pick something small that fits your situation: eat away from the work surface, step outside, stretch comfortably or sit quietly. There is no need to make the break another performance target.

Respect the coverage you agreed to

Check your role’s break and availability expectations. If someone needs to cover incoming work, use the agreed handoff. A real pause is easier when you know who has the queue and when you are expected back.

Leave a restart note

Before stepping away, write the next action in one sentence. Put it somewhere you can find without opening every app. When the break ends, return to that action rather than spending the first few minutes reconstructing your place.

Make it useful today

What is a small break you can actually take in the space and schedule you have?
