Many employers use software to organize applications before a recruiter reviews them. The goal is not to “beat” a robot. It is to make your experience easy for both software and people to understand.
The best resume language is searchable and believable. Use the employer’s words when they honestly match your experience, then prove them with a result.
Start with the job description
Highlight repeated skills, tools, certifications, and responsibilities. If the listing says “customer relationship management” and you only write “kept customer notes,” the match may be missed. Use the full phrase naturally and include the tool you used when relevant.
Turn duties into proof
- Weak: Answered customer calls.
- Stronger: Resolved 45–60 customer calls per shift while maintaining accurate account notes.
- Weak: Helped with projects.
- Stronger: Coordinated weekly project updates across a six-person remote team.
Keep the layout readable
- Use familiar headings such as Experience, Skills, and Education.
- Avoid placing essential information only inside graphics or decorative columns.
- Use consistent job titles, dates, and bullet formatting.
- Save in the file format requested by the employer.
Use AI as an editor—not your identity
AI can compare your draft with a job description, find missing keywords, and tighten long bullets. You should still verify every claim and rewrite phrases you would never say. Generic words such as “dynamic,” “visionary,” and “results-driven” mean little without evidence.
The final human check
- Does the top third show the role you want?
- Can a recruiter find your most relevant skills in ten seconds?
- Does every number have a truthful source?
- Would you feel comfortable explaining every bullet in an interview?
A strong resume is not stuffed with keywords. It is a clear match between what the employer needs and what you have actually done.
