Intake Specialist

AdaptHealth is hiring a remote Intake Specialist to support patients by coordinating referrals, reviewing clinical documentation, verifying insurance eligibility, and ensuring services are delivered accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records, clinical documentation, and payer guidelines to determine patient eligibility and compliance.
• Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibility and collect payments when applicable.
• Contact patients when documentation does not meet payer requirements and provide updates.
• Work with referral sources, physicians, and clinical teams to obtain complete documentation.
• Maintain expert knowledge of payer requirements and insurance guidelines.
• Enter referrals accurately while meeting productivity and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical record systems.
• Coordinate inventory and services with leadership.
• Collaborate with sales, insurance verification, and internal support teams.
• Navigate multiple EMR and online healthcare systems.
• Ensure proper shipping and delivery methods are selected.
• Answer incoming calls and provide professional customer support.
• Participate in an on-call rotation outside normal business hours.
• Follow all company policies and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• At least 1 year of related work experience required.
• Experience in administrative support, insurance, billing, claims, call center, or customer service preferred.
• Healthcare, pharmacy, HME, or Medicare experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Comfortable learning new technology.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
