Three interviewers can hear the same answer and leave with three different impressions. Before the next candidate arrives, agree on what you are trying to learn.
Choose evidence before wording
Pick a few abilities that matter in the actual job. For a support role, that might be understanding a customer problem, explaining the next step and recording accurate notes. Write down what useful evidence would look like before discussing individual candidates.
Ask a comparable core question
Use the same central prompt for candidates interviewing for the same role. Let follow-up questions explore their experience without changing the standard halfway through. Give people enough context to understand the task rather than rewarding mind reading.
Record observations before the group discussion
Write what the person described or demonstrated. Keep that separate from broad impressions such as “great energy.” Compare evidence with the agreed role requirements, then discuss uncertainty and any follow-up needed.
